“We are continuing a series of investments in DS Smith’s operations in Poland and reinforcing our market position in the region,” says Reinier Schlatmann, Regional Managing Director, Packaging Division, DS Smith Eastern Europe.
“By enhancing our production capabilities, we are able to provide our customers with increased options for recyclable and circular solutions.”
DS Smith has announced a significant investment of over €25 million in its Polish facilities, aiming to boost production capabilities and support sustainable packaging solutions.
The investment will be allocated to production lines and machinery parks in Kielce, Bełchatów, and Sosnowiec, as part of the company’s ambitious growth strategy in Central and Eastern Europe.
The majority of the funds, approximately €22 million, will be used to expand the existing packaging facility in Kielce, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, including a new die-cutter BOBST MASTERLINE 2.1. This will enhance the automation and precision of the production process in the Flexography department.
Additionally, a new production line for the DS Smith Easy Bowl solution for fresh food will be established in the Bełchatów facility, and the Sosnowiec facility will see investments in machinery for producing sustainable and fibre-based paper bags for the eCommerce sector.
These investments are expected to increase DS Smith’s annual packaging production capacity in Poland by approximately 25 million square meters, and the production of glued boxes by 7.5 million square meters.
