“The UK has led the charge, eliminating over 274 million pieces of plastic, with France and Germany not far behind, having replaced more than 260 million and over 153 million pieces, respectively.”
The demand for such sustainable alternatives is surging, especially in Eastern Europe, where DS Smith has nearly doubled its annual plastic reduction rate since announcing its 2020 target.
Among the successful plastic replacement solutions are the DS Smith Lift Up, DS Smith Round Wrap, and various fruit & vegetable punnets. These innovations have been pivotal in reducing the reliance on plastics, particularly for carriers and shrink-wrap on soft drink bottles.
