Interview with Dominik Braun, Business Manager of Key Market Manager for Corrugated Board & Pulp for Paper of GKD Group at FEFCO 2023.
We are here at FEFCO. How do you like the show?
It’s quite nice. So far, we have had very interesting conversations and spotlights. And we were delighted to present our latest generation of corrugator belts.
What exactly did you bring here for the exhibition? What is your product you’re presenting?
Our product is the latest generation of corrugator belts called the GKD BLUEBACKER for the double facer section of corrugator lines. And it’s very innovative and it brings a lot of potential for the end customers in terms of energy savings and efficiency.
And what are your expectations after the exhibition? What would you like to achieve?
We hope of course to get new contacts, sell a lot of belts and to implement the BLUEBACKER into the market because it’s quite new. We started in 2019 with this product and we got exceptional results so far.
How did your company perform in 2023? Maybe what challenges did you face and what achievements did you accomplish?
GKD Group did very well in 2023 because we have a wide variety of product portfolio. We have technical weavers for fine filtration, process belts and architecture and design. So, very diverse and a global company with seven production locations. We compensate each market with everyone else.
Here is your headliner here at the exhibition?
Yes. You can see the GKD BLUEBACKER. It has a very open mesh structure for a very good evaporation, which increases the flatness of the cardboard and does not elongate like other products the customers are used to know.
Maybe you also have a message for your audience and for your customers, like what is unique about your product, your company, and what is your main advantage over the competitors on the market?
So, what’s different is we combined all the positive characteristics of spiral belts, needle felt belts and heavy woven belts into one hybrid belt, the BLUEBACKER, which eliminates all the negative characteristics and gives the customer the potential to increase his efficiency during cardboard production.
