Interview with Nils Gottfried (Senior Marketing and Sales expert for industrial single-pass inkjet printing technology for packaging applications of BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagen GmbH) at SuperCorrExpo 2024.
What if you could be part of the transformation in the design, production, and delivery of corrugated boxes? What if you could directly integrate high-speed single-pass printing into your production at the corrugator?
The BHS Jetliner Monochrome is a single-pass printer, one color (black), that can be integrated directly into the corrugator. The aim of the system is to take out all one-color jobs from converting and produce these jobs directly at the corrugator.
This will save customers time on makeready waste, flexo plates, and flexo inks. Additionally, we provide them with more capacity in converting by taking all these jobs directly to the corrugator. How many orders can you handle with this technology?
This depends, of course, on the product basket of all the customers. But from our experience, 60% to 80% of the jobs are brown box one-color black.
That’s so interesting. Can you show more of this presentation or something?
I think this is the main idea to understand. Our company is a manufacturer of corrugated machines. Besides that, we have digital print in our portfolio. I am the sales manager for digital print, and what we’re presenting here is the newest technology for digital print.
We have two machines in the portfolio: the BHS Jetliner Xceed, a four-color machine roll-to-roll for digital print, and a monochrome printer that can be integrated directly into the corrugator.
What we are showing here are boxes and the way we transform the business from discrete manufacturing to batch mode printing to lower manufacturing costs for all box makers in the United States, changing the industry from discrete manufacturing.
This means one job per roll in pre-print to batch manufacturing many jobs in one roll. This will completely change the way boxes are designed, manufactured, and delivered.
Our main approach is to show customers our Box Plant Vision 25. This is a complete change from how customers are producing at the moment to how they will produce in the future. All this aims for lower production costs, less waste, less paper waste, less resource use, and fewer people.
The main issue we are addressing is box making, and the aim, of course, is to produce boxes at the lowest cost possible. That’s the main question. We’re not talking a lot about technology; we’re talking about the cost of manufacturing a box. Our Box Plant Vision and the products we have in that box plant of the future.
What we have here is a complete walkthrough of the BHS Jetliner Xceed produced in our factory and how the system is built up at the moment. We are inviting customers until the end of the year to do print trials in our facility in Weiherhammerh, bringing their own media, their own paper, and their own print jobs.
As you can see, the BHS Jetliner is a full-color system. I invite everybody to talk to us and come to Weiherhammer to see it live.
Thank you for your time. Thank you for the interview!
Thank you so much for the opportunity. Have a great day!
