“We are delighted to celebrate the completion of this significant investment and the opportunity it gives us to continue providing high-quality, sustainable products to our customers,” says Markus Gärtner, CEO of Mondi Corrugated Packaging.
“It also demonstrates our commitment to supporting economic growth in the region and securing the long-term viability of the Kuopio mill,” continues Markus Gärtner.
The extensive project, which marks a major step forward in the company’s growth and sustainability strategy, has successfully increased the mill’s production capacity by 55,000 tonnes per annum.
This expansion is expected to meet the growing demand for Mondi’s high-performance semi-chemical fluting, ProVantage Powerflute®, which is essential for fresh fruit and vegetable packaging.
The upgrade encompasses improvements across various sectors of the mill, including the wood yard, fibre line, evaporation plant, and paper machine. These enhancements not only boost production efficiency but also significantly improve the environmental performance of the facility.
The modernization aligns with Mondi’s MAP2030 sustainability commitments, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of paper and improve overall resource and energy efficiency.
