Interview with Zeneida Serra, the Marketing Director of the company.

Welcome, Zeneida. Thank you for joining us today. Let’s dive right into the discussion. What are the main trends you see in the corrugated board industry today, and how is your company responding to these challenges?
The corrugated board industry is undergoing significant transformation, driven by advancements in digital printing, intelligent conveyor systems like Botflow, and AI-driven applications.
At SERRA, we are at the forefront of these innovations, developing technologies such as our MasterMove SCADA self-learning system for Botflow interconnectivity and AI vision control for warehouse forklift safety. These advancements enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize production workflows for manufacturers worldwide.
SERRA is a family-owned company with three generations of expertise, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. Since its establishment in 1948, SERRA has been a global innovator in machinery solutions for the corrugated industry.
What new technologies or products are you presenting at this expo, and how can they improve production processes for our viewers?
At this expo, we are showcasing Botflow, an advanced smart conveyor system designed to interact seamlessly with other units and integrate with the factory’s ERP. This self-learning system optimizes material flow and increases efficiency.
Additionally, for die-cutting processes, we are presenting Serrapida and Serrarm, our solutions for both flat and rotary dies. We are also introducing our automated die storage solutions, which streamline production and reduce downtime, improving overall operational efficiency.
In your opinion, what will be the biggest challenge for corrugated board manufacturers in the next five years, and how is your company helping them address these challenges?
One of the biggest challenges manufacturers will face is the rising cost of production, particularly as we navigate an upcoming economic crisis.
To help mitigate these financial pressures, we are developing collaborative robots (cobots) designed to reduce production costs while maintaining efficiency. These innovations allow manufacturers to optimize labor costs and increase automation, ensuring a competitive edge in the industry.
How does your company support sustainability and eco-friendliness in the corrugated board industry?
Sustainability is a core focus for us at SERRA. We leverage solar energy in our manufacturing processes, particularly in producing our Serrapid cylinder for quick die-mounting systems.
Our solutions are designed to be compatible with any rotary die-cutter on the market, ensuring seamless integration while promoting energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
What message would you like to share with corrugated board manufacturers worldwide who are watching this report?
My advice to manufacturers is to stay ahead of the technological curve. The industry is evolving rapidly, and missing out on innovation can set a company back significantly. Investing in new technologies for productivity, safety, and cost optimization is no longer optional—it is essential for staying competitive.
The future belongs to those who embrace change and leverage advanced solutions to drive efficiency and sustainability.
Thank you, Zeneida, for your insights and for sharing SERRA’s vision with us today.
Thank you. It was a pleasure discussing these industry advancements with you.
