Interview with Ronald van de Ven, Sales Manager of Western Europe and David Jackson Maddux, Corrugated Board and Paper Converting Sales Manager for North America at SuperCorrExpo 2024.
What do you have for our viewers, especially corrugated board manufacturers?
We’re here to talk to you a little bit about Valmet and what we hope to accomplish in the corrugated industry. We have a tremendous success story in Europe and have also started some great success stories in Asia.
Now, we’re hoping to grow the business in North America and South America. So, we want to tell you a bit about what Valmet has to offer.
Valmet is a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries. The company also provides automation and flow control solutions for a wide range of process industries.
Valmet measures and controls moisture and temperature throughout the corrugated process. The industry has learned that moisture control is important to maintain the moisture balance between corrugated board layers, for example when trying to bond a nice white top printed liner to a less recycled liner, which can cause warp issues.
With our system, we can control warp through our warp measurement and moisturizers, which only moisturizes the sheet where needed, based on the moisture profile. This is all closed-loop controlled and happens in real-time.
Our quality control system is a scalable system for both existing and new Corrugator installations, designed to be compatible with various corrugator brands. It can also be used in addition to existing temperature-based process controls.
By measuring temperature and moisture with multi point measurements in the wet end, we control the preheater and the wrap arm to keep moisture balanced throughout the process.
We’ve found that we can reduce warp rates by over 40%, and reducing quality waste over 30% making it a great ROI project for North America and the regions Ronald covers in Western Europe.
Maybe you know this word: sustainability.
Our system also balances temperatures and moisture better, preventing overheating and offering energy savings and raw material reductions. In today’s world, it’s all about the environment.
Our system reduces the need for rework by reducing quality waste, cutting down on carbon emissions.
It also prevents overheating and edge cracks by controlling the wrap arms and steam, maintaining sustainability.
We have many success stories, which you can find on our website. One of our customers in Asia just bought their fifth system. We’re getting a lot of interest in Asia and hope to grow in North America. We’re looking for good partners.
One of our customers even came to the show to talk to potential customers for us. Our customers love our products and are willing to talk about them, which really impacted the show.
Thank you very much!
Thank you!
