”Take a tour with me to the future of corrugated industry!” says Thomas Murr, Area Sales Manager at BHS Corrugated.
BHS Corrugated, a leading provider of Lifecycle Solutions for the corrugated industry, has developed the “Box Plant 2025”, a holistic concept for the future corrugated box plant. It offers solutions for the typical challenges that come with corrugated board production: saving costs, sourcing material, finding staff, managing space, reducing waste, increasing productivity and many more. All of these factors have a large impact on the profitability of corrugated box plants.
“Traditional” views on how to improve the productivity of corrugated board production have one weakness. They only concentrate on one item like the corrugator. “But if a box leaves a corrugator after 30 seconds, why ignore the rest of the factory?”, states BHS Corrugated. Focusing on one machinery aspect disregards the interaction in between and leads to limitations in profitability, efficiency, and performance.
To make the big leap, BHS Corrugated rethinks corrugated board production. They do not only look on the corrugator, but on every process of corrugated board production within their customer’s plants. All processes at Box Plant 2025 are interlinked. In addition, Box Plant 2025 is intelligent, adaptive, highly productive, and continuous non-stop. These include integrated digital printing, digitally controlled intralogistics and data-based processes. The portfolio is backed-up by lifecycle services that help their customers set new standards in terms of profitability and performance.
As we see, the Box Plant 2025 is based on many different solutions, not only for the corrugator, but for the complete corrugated factory. A particular highlight is the Jetliner®, a series of single-pass inkjet printing systems that enable high-quality, on-demand and customized packaging. It is the world´s first solution, that enables printing corrugated board during the production process. With the solutions of BHS Intralogistics, customers can optimize their material flow from the roll warehouse to the Reel Stand.
iCorr® – Digital Solutions form the totality of digital products, services and processes that support customers in operating their equipment from BHS Corrugated efficiently and sustainably.

According to BHS Corrugated, Box Plant 2025 will allow plant owners to react more flexibly to customer demands and new market situations. Furthermore, it will improve all input and output factors of their production. The concept will also enable customers to meet the growing demands of brand owners and consumers for individualized and sustainable packaging.
Box Plant 2025 will evolve dynamically over time, in line with technological progress and new applications. Customers will be able to start immediately and upgrade their box plant with future innovations from BHS Corrugated. The company will showcase the Box Plant 2025 at the upcoming FEFCO Technical Seminar 2023 in Lyon, France.
