Last week, we played Corruga Empire in Palm Beach, Chicago, and Rome — including at the wonderful FEFCO Technical Seminar. Yes, the game has officially gained international status and was met with great enthusiasm by our European friends and partners.
At every meeting, I presented the Corrugator Token — a kind of entry test to the Corrugated Board Clan 😉. The most unexpected reaction came from Marco Bertola (Fosber) — he was so thrilled that I ended up giving him the token as a gift!
Then Alberto Fioriti (Emmepi Group) revealed something I hadn’t known, which led to an update in the game rules. We now have six main Super Tokens:
- Corrugator
- Flexo Folder Gluer
- Rotary Die Cutter
- Flatbed Die Cutter
- High-Quality Post Print
- Digital Printer
And four Support Tokens:
- Glue Kitchen
- Liner & Medium
- Robotic Palletizer
- Folder Gluer
Previously, the Robotic Palletizer only enhanced the Inline FFG. But Alberto explained that it also works perfectly with the Folder Gluer, which in turn supports any Die Cutter — including the High-Quality Post Print (thanks to its rotary die-cutting module).
So now we have a new Triumvirate: Die Cutter (any of the three) + Folder Gluer + Robotic Palletizer
Game mechanics: • A Super Equipment doubles your rent income • A Pair cuts all your payments in half • A Triumvirate makes you rent-free • If you collect two Triumvirates — you win the game
This way, Corruga Empire is not only fun and strategic — it’s also an educational tool that playfully explains how the corrugated industry truly works.
