Interview with Fabien Val-Duprez, Président of the company, at CCE International 2025.

What are the main trends you see in the corrugated board industry today, and how is your company responding to these challenges?

The main trend we observe is the increasing emphasis on automation. The idea is not to replace operators but to elevate their roles, turning them into technicians rather than focusing on manual handling.

The growing demand we see is for machines to become highly automated, incorporating advanced units and systems to streamline processes. This is a significant trend shaping the industry.

What new technologies or products are you showcasing at this expo, and how can they improve production processes for our audience?

At this expo, we are excited to present our latest MINI CUIR machine. This little machine is designed with an exceptionally compact footprint—less than ten meters from the feeder to the delivery system.

It features incredibly fast setup times between jobs, allowing job transitions in under two minutes during die-cutting operations. The first unit has been installed in France, and the next will be delivered to the UK, followed potentially by the United States.

What do you consider to be the biggest challenge for corrugated board manufacturers over the next five years, and how is your company addressing these challenges?

To tackle this, we focus on maintaining or enhancing the quality of our machines while avoiding price increases.

We aim to compete by delivering high-quality, French-made equipment that ensures accuracy, reliability, and durability—without compromising standards. It’s critical for us to keep prices competitive while retaining our reputation for excellence.

Founded in 1932, CUIR CCM specializes in the production of inline flexo-flatbed die cutting machinery for corrugated converters. The company manufactures its equipment entirely in Libercourt, France.

How does your company support sustainability and eco-friendliness within the corrugated board industry?

Sustainability is central to our operations. Over 90% of our materials are sourced from France, reducing the carbon footprint of our machines. We prioritize high-quality components that last, avoiding the use of lower-quality parts that are disposable.

For example, we prefer using durable carbon-fiber doctor blades that are nearly everlasting. This approach not only protects our customers’ investments but also aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility and reducing waste.

Hippolyte Grandin, After-Sales Service Manager and Fabien Val-Duprez

Finally, what message would you like to share with corrugated board manufacturers worldwide who are watching this report?

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, even as a smaller French company. We are proud to serve customers worldwide and would be delighted to discuss our machines and solutions with you.

If you have suggestions or requests for features, let us know—it’s the best way for us to improve and expand our range of products. We look forward to supporting your success.

Thank you, Fabien, for the interview.

Thank you!
