“The investment responds to the growing demand for corrugated cardboard from our customers in the region,” says Thibault Laumonier, Regional Managing Director of DS Smith France.

“We have opened a new workshop dedicated to the production of Kaypal cardboard pallets, which will assist our regional customers in transitioning towards a circular economy and adopting sustainable packaging solutions.”
New equipment includes a BOBST Mastercut 2.1 die-cut machine and a cardboard pallet production line housed within a 2,500 m² workshop. The facility has the capacity to manufacture 250,000 units annually, with the potential to increase production up to 1.5 million pallets each year.”
The Kaypal pallet offers numerous advantages for DS Smith’s clientele, including its complete recyclability, exceptionally low weight of only 3.5 kilograms, ergonomic design, cleanliness, cost-effectiveness, and reusability.
This eco-friendly product serves as a perfect choice for air freight of goods, ground displays, and point-of-sale (POS) setups, as well as for pallet boxes (bulk) and sorting orders at retail distribution hubs (interlayer pallets), thanks to its space-saving design and extremely lightweight components.
The La Chevrolière plant is located near Nantes in western France. Owing to investment and expansion, its production area has been increased by 4,000 square meters.
