Interview with Werner Neumann, Product Manager of Erhardt & Leimer Inc. at SuperCorrExpo 2024.
Tell us about your company and how the exhibition is going for you
It’s the end of the show, and it was a great show. We had a lot of visitors and a lot of interest in new products. Many companies displayed their machines, which is great because it doesn’t happen very often these days. There was a lot of interest in our new product for running digital print on the corrugator and acetate lines.
We integrate the smart line into the corrugated design, making it feasible to run multiple jobs in one roll on the corrugator. That is our smart line system that we introduced here. We also have a standard product guiding system and tension control systems for the corrugating industry.
Erhardt & Leimer Inc. is a leading global supplier of automation technology and system solutions for web control, web guiding, and web inspection. The company specializes in providing high-quality machinery and technology for various industries, including textile, paper, corrugating, film, tire, rubber, non-woven, and printing
Can you explain more? Who are your clients?
Yes, we are working with HP digital printing presses for the corrugating industry. They provide the print, and we make this print usable on a corrugator. We install digital cameras and decode the information printed on the edge of the digital print, including the standard cut lines that are always included in prints.
We integrate information like a counter and a job description, so we can give the signal in time to the corrugator to change from one job to another or divert defective prints out of the corrugator. We work with all corrugated manufacturers, including Fosber, BHS BW Papersystems, and many others, but these are the most common ones here in the US.
Can you upgrade old corrugators?
Yes, we can. We have interfaces to new corrugators with Ethernet interfaces that handle all the communication. For older corrugators without a touchscreen and just push buttons, we hardwire the information in, and it can be converted very efficiently. We have done that in the past, and it’s working out very well.
Thank you for the interview!
Thank you so much.
