Interview with Scott Hibbs, President & CEO of Agergaard North America, Inc.
What interesting products are you bringing to SuperCorrExpo 2024?
At the exposition we are exhibiting enclosed chamber doctor blade systems specifically designed for the corrugated industry. We use thin stainless steel because it is extremely durable. This is a three-millimeter thick stainless steel that is bent to be extremely rigid over a wide format. The system includes stainless steel with blade holders and features a truly toolless blade and seal change.
All of our chamber doctor blade systems are like this. They are very chemical resistant and extremely durable because of the stainless steel, which lasts a long time. Operators can clean the inside using different types of tools. Although stainless steel can scratch, it does not degrade the material, so it lasts a long time. This makes it more durable compared to some other composite chamber doctor blade systems, which can degrade if scratched.

What about sustainability?
Because it is such a hard, rigid material, it lasts a long time unless you run it over with a forklift. We can integrate it into existing machines to upgrade them, bringing more innovation and better printing performance. It lasts much longer compared to some composite materials that can degrade. Pound for pound, stainless steel is comparable to some lighter composite materials.
The chamber is easily detached from the suspension bar inside the printing press, allowing you to leave the suspension inside the printing unit and take the chamber out. Normally, it doesn’t need to come out because, in the maintenance position, you can change the seals and blades without removing the chamber.

Thank you for the interesting information.
You’re welcome. In addition to our equipment, we are also displaying a wide variety of doctor blades. We make over 4000 different geometries of seals. We have steel blades, poly blades, and plastic blades, catering to the requirements of individual converters for their inking systems, whether it’s chamber systems, ink pumping systems, or seals and doctor blades. We have the total solution.
There is a box maker watching you. Do you have something more?
If they contact us, we would be happy to discuss our unique solutions and how we can help them achieve their technical goals on their printing equipment, ultimately saving them money.
Thank you.
You’re welcome.
