The company expects that in H2/2025 the mill in Bruck an der Mur (Austria) with a capacity of 210,000 tpy of recycled containerboard will be utilised by 95%

“We are delighted to have received our first commercial orders of Strato Testliner 3 and Fluting, which underlines that customers have tested our paper successfully,” says SVP Strategic Projects at Norske Skog Tore Hansesætre, who is set to replace Sven Ombudstvedt as the company’s CEO from June 1, 2023.
“This is a significant milestone that demonstrates our commitment to the packaging market, and we look forward to further expanding our product offering in the future.”
The renovated Norske Skog mill was opened in April 2023. The production is based 100% on recycled fibre and will use steam from the waste-to-energy plant, opened in April 2022.
Another conversion of the Norske Skog paper machine from newsprint to recycled containerboard is currently underway in Golbey, France. The launch of the machine with a capacity of 550,000 tpy is expected in Q4/2023.
The company recently ordered consistency measurements from Valmet for a new stock preparation unit which will replace the aged ones from Golbey’s PM1. According to Valmet, this project is the largest one for measurements negotiated in France for more than 20 years.
Valmet’s delivery includes five Valmet Microwave Consistency Measurements (Valmet MCA G4), two Valmet Blade Consistency Measurements and 16 Valmet Optical Consistency Measurements from the latest generation to measure total consistency as well as ash content.
Measuring all solid particles in the process, the Valmet MCA enables better control for more efficient production, improved quality and economic savings with fewer process upsets. After the conversion, Golbey PM1 will produce recycled fluting and testliner grades with a design basis weight from 70 to 135 gsm.
Norske Skog is a world leading producer of publication paper with strong market positions and customer relations in Europe and Australasia. Currently, the group owns five factories in four countries and employs around 2,100 people..
