“This marks an important step in our long-term growth strategy. It allows us to enhance our market presence in key regions and to serve our customers locally with trusted teams and reliable service,” says Dr. Marina Palm, Managing Director of PALM Group.

In a major move that reshapes the European corrugated packaging landscape, PALM Group has officially completed the acquisition of five corrugated packaging plants from International Paper, following months of regulatory review and strategic negotiations.
The acquired plants will operate under the following names:
- Palm Packaging Cabourg SAS (north-west France/Normandy)
- Palm Packaging Mortagne SAS (north-west France/Normandy)
- Palm Packaging Saint-Amand SAS (north-west France/Normandy)
- Palm Packaging Bilbao S.L.U. (north-west Spain/Basque region)
- Palm Packaging Ovar S.A. (north of Portugal near Porto)
With the addition of these five sites, PALM now operates 33 corrugated box plants across Europe, reinforcing its presence in Southern and Western Europe.
For International Paper, the sale completes its obligations to the European Commission and clears the path for full integration of DS Smith’s operations. The company continues to focus on expanding its footprint in North America and EMEA, with projected revenues of $27 billion in 2025.
