“…We’re here at CCE Munich showcasing our end-to-end solutions for the corrugated industry. One of the main highlights we’re showcasing is the tight integration with the plant processes, specifically the corrugator, through our closed-loop corrugator control system Escada.
“We can tap into information and data directly on the corrugator, which we’ve been unable to do before. And we’re using that information to measure energy and material usage in a level of detail that’s different from all the other systems.
“With the scheduling solutions and the communication links we’ve got, we are transmitting to the machine what we want it to do; we’re then measuring and managing the process, ensuring that what the customer is ordering is what’s produced on the machine.
“We capture real-time material usage and the time and energy of producing the product. Then, we take that data and estimate based on actuals of what each product takes to produce.”
“What did you bring here, is there anything new?”
“The new element is within Syncro and Profile – the level of detail we’re capturing now is greater than before. Next Gen Clarity has improved recipe management, enhancing the ability to control the process, the speed, and all the individual parameters and controls on the corrugator.
“We’re at a point where you can set controls at the paper level, not just board grade, not product, but individual paper components. If you make any changes and deviate, the machine recognizes those changes and adapts the controls accordingly. With this, you benefit from consistency in product quality and achieve the optimum performance speed.”
“What about the show?”
“The show’s been good; I think the quality of our guests, customers, and new opportunities that have come along has been fantastic. We’ve had attendees from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa – from all over the world!”
“How were things in 2022?”
“It was the unlocking of the market, so to speak; all the markets we operate in were fully open for business, so we were extremely busy in terms of projects, go-lives, and implementations.
“There was some backlog after the global COVID challenges, so it was a hectic year for our operations team with new projects coming on-line.
“And that was the year we became eProductivity Software, so we’ve gone through some significant positive changes, much investment, and new people. It was an excellent year, giving us a great platform to offer our corrugated solutions to the market.”
“Any challenges that you have now?”
“We’re still trying to find and recruit good people from the corrugated industry; we want to take our time and ensure we hire the right people.
“We’re currently looking for new engineers, mainly to help us deliver all these new projects because we have a hefty backlog and want to ensure we deliver those solutions as quickly and efficiently as possible. That’s a big challenge for us.”
“…In terms of the future direction, now, as an independent software company, we fully control our destiny. With significant investment going into R&D, our product roadmap is very exciting. The market will look forwards to seeing interesting things coming from us; it could happen later this year at FEFCO (October 2023).
“The other thing that’s quite exciting is that this year we’re hosting our first user forum for all our corrugated customers. This event will take place in Barcelona in the middle of May; the invites are already sent.
“We’re hoping to get all our customers and users together, and we’ll talk about our future and what they’re looking for from our products to support them for years to come.”
