Since 1947, the Italian company has been designing, developing and manufacturing folder-gluers for corrugated packaging plants. Ambassador of the “Made in Italy” brand in the world market. The oldest working Vega folder gluer is 45 years old; it still receives full service support from the manufacturer

“My grandfather Mario Nava started the business right after the Second World War with a very small plant,” says Jacopo Nava, son of Giorgio Nava and the current president of Vega S.r.l. (the Nava family runs the company). “The staff of Officine Meccaniche Grafiche Nava (Nava Graphic Mechanical Workshops) had a few people, the business was growing sustainably year over year, laying the basis for the future growth of the company.
“In 1947, we made our debut on the packaging market with the PM350 folder-gluer line. Today, the 75-year-old model with serial number 4 is on the Vega’s showroom and can still produce straight line boxes with a single glue point and a maximum open box size of 35 cm.

“In 1960, my grandfather renamed the company to Vega, after the brightest star in the Italian sky. The PM350 was followed by the Vega Minor, Vegatronic CAU and SAU 94, Versatil Vega lines, and then by our other milestone models Vega Junior, Vega Onda, Vega 750 and Vega 110-115. Some of these machines are still operating in different countries and still provided with spare parts.
“Since 1995, the company has consisted of two business units: Vega (responsible for the production of series lines, customization, service, spare parts) and Meccanica Magentina (production of mechanical parts). Each unit is focused on specific goals, which gives the company flexibility in the manufacture of equipment, saves resources and provides fast and high-quality service.

“After acquiring the know-how of Revicart in 2018, which is another important milestone in our development history, we can boast not only reliable folder gluer machines and a high-tech double feeder, but also end line products, a stage that we have been moving towards for many years. Of course, all Vega machines are Industry 4.0 compliant.
“We always attend important exhibitions, so almost every year up to 90% of our company’s turnover is international sales. In 1998, we set a record, showing our machines at five exhibitions in Paris, Chicago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Milan.

“The main witness of our long history is Remo Paiola, Sales Director of Vega. He started his career with the company 45 years ago as a worker, having passed through the quality control, mechanical engineering and sales areas.”

“The attitude among the people in this company has always been constructive and familiar,” Remo says. “Giorgio Nava was my teacher of life, his trust allowed me to learn, grow, travel all around the world and meet new people, I will always be grateful to him for this chance.
“You can say that our company builds not only folder-gluer lines, but also relationships. All exhibitions have been a celebration and a moment of sharing. At each expo, our customers also became our friends, not forgetting to have some fun. I.e., during one Drupa exhibition we had a small kitchen at our booth, and after testing our folder gluers our customers ate with us our typical Italian food, what a pleasure!”
“We had difficult times too, and the present moment is highly challenging for us as well,” continues Jacopo Nava, “but we remain focused to achieve new goals and improve the machines according to our customers’ needs. The big difference between us and the larger manufacturers is the attention we give to each single customer before, during and, most importantly, after the sale.
“I believe that it is thanks to the long-term relationships built over the years with our employees, customers and suppliers that our company celebrated its 75th anniversary. The trust earned from all these people is the best way to celebrate and retrace our history.”
