WEPACK 2026 opened yesterday, April 15, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an, bringing together more than 1,500 exhibitors across 120,000 sqm and more than 100,000 professional visitors from across the packaging value chain. For the corrugated board industry, this is not just another large exhibition. It is one of the places where the next technology, sourcing and market signals become visible.

And the first day was not only about the doors opening. Day 1 already brought a strong international business tone, with Indonesia Day and Indian Day on site, while Vietnam National Day follows on April 16. That matters because WEPACK is clearly positioning itself not only as a machinery show, but as a platform where packaging markets, regional opportunities and supplier ecosystems meet in real time.

At the centre of that story for our industry is SinoCorrugated South 2026 — the corrugated core of WEPACK and the part of the show that matters most for producers of corrugated board and packaging. Inside the wider 8-in-1 format, this is where the focus becomes much sharper: corrugators, converting equipment, digital print, automation, logistics and raw materials.

What matters most for corrugated visitors

For corrugated board producers, the real value of WEPACK is not the size of the halls. It is the concentration of relevant suppliers in one place.

This is where visitors can compare not just machines, but directions:
more automation, more digital integration, more converting flexibility, and more pressure to make plants faster, smarter and easier to run.

If you come from the corrugated side of the business, the first priority is clear: go where the suppliers tied directly to corrugating and converting are showing their next steps.

Where to go first

Start with the exhibitors focused on:

corrugators and corrugating systems
This is where you can read the direction of line performance, control, service and plant logic.

converting and ancillary equipment
This is where efficiency is protected, labour is reduced and margins are defended.

digital printing and automation
This is one of the fastest-changing parts of the show and one of the most important for future competitiveness.

industrial papers and specialty materials
Often less visually dramatic, but still critical for quality, consistency and total plant performance.

Why the first day already matters

The first-day programme also says something important about the direction of the event.

Indonesia Day was framed around Indonesia’s fast-growing packaging market, investment potential and regional cooperation.
Indian Day focused on one of the world’s most dynamic packaging markets, bringing together associations and enterprises around innovation, sustainability and partnership opportunities.

This is important for corrugated visitors because it shows that WEPACK is trying to connect machinery with market access. It is not only about what is standing on the show floor. It is also about where future demand, partnerships and expansion may come from.

Why this matters for corruga.expert readers

For our readers, the most interesting part of WEPACK 2026 is simple:
you can already see the industry trying to connect equipment, markets and partnerships more tightly than before.

Corrugated is no longer being presented as a stand-alone machinery segment. It is being placed inside a bigger conversation about automation, digitalisation, sustainability, sourcing and regional growth.

That is why WEPACK matters. Not because it is big, but because it is one of the places where the corrugated board industry quietly shows what it wants to become next.
